 At Buck Ridge, we breed a broad range of colored huacaya alpacas with diverse, strong genetic backgrounds. Our initial breeding herd consisted of alpacas purchased across the U.S. from top quality breeders. Award winning genetic backgrounds include Hemingway, Tequila, Providence, Impact, Hannibal, Excaliber, 4Peruvian Cronus, Accipiter, Valentino and the Silversmith. Recent breedings include Snowmass Gold Vision, Bulletproof, Brio of Rancho Ecantado, Snowmass Ultra Elite, and Pachacuti's Patriot. We have just aquired our first Suri alpaca and are excited about expanding our breeding program.
We are participants of the Ideal Alpaca Community. The Ideal Alpaca Community is a group of like minded breeders who believe in the ultimate potential of the alpaca. We are joined together by common principles and goals. Our collective purpose is to raise genetically superior alpacas that produce high volumes of fine fleece.
We share a belief in the Ideal Alpaca Breed Standards, Ideal Alpaca Type, and the use of progeny-tested, impact sires we call "Studmaster" males. It is through these males and their progeny that the genetic improvement of our individual herds will be assured. These males are chosen based on bite, bone density, fleece, size and movement.
We are breeding towards excellence. We have begun our program with strong breeding stock and are enhancing our genetic pool by implementing these Studmaster quality genetics into our herd. We are very excited to have a beautiful fawn yearling sired by Studmaster Tequila. Her name is Tequila's Corazon. We have exceptional 2007 male cria sired by Studmaster Providence and Studmaster Peruvian Impact. Their future herdsire qualities are already shining through.
We now can offer breeding services here at our farm with our recent acquisition of ¾ Accoyo Pachacuti's Patriot. Patriot's introductory breeding fee will be $1500.00. Once his progeny are on the ground, the price will be surely going up. Reserve your space for spring and fall breedings as soon as possible.
This Allianza/ Accoyo cross is another great offspring from Studmaster Accoyo Pachacuti and Peruvian Paloma. He is full Peruvian and 3/4 Accoyo. His dam, Peruvian Paloma, is a consistent producer of elite cria. Patriot's Grand Dam was an Allianza import who sold for $21,500 in 1994. That was a lot of money back then. His entire pedigree consists of animals that have produced nothing but greatness. Patriot has excellent high frequency crimp, BEAUTIFUL bundling and stapling, crimp literally down to his knees, even color, perfect conformation, uniform fleece, good density, nice bone and a picture perfect head. His Grand Sire is the famous Peruvian Vengador G4568 who has produced hundreds of blue ribbon and multichampion cria.
Our breeding program is a responsibility that we do not take lightly. Each animal is closely monitored and intensive records are kept on each of them. We have a structured animal care program in place which includes regular visits from the local alpaca vet. Our mission is to breed the healthiest, happiest, best looking alpacas that ever touched foot on American soil. In order to accomplish this, we breed only strong, healthy animals and incorporate the best genetic mix into the herd in an effort to attain the best conformity, the best color, the finest fleece possible, and good temperaments.
