About Us

Welcome to our farm. We are located in central Virginia in the county of Powhatan about 22 miles west of Richmond. We are in the heart of horse country. Rolling pastures abound. We moved from a suburban neighborhood to the country. Bob still maintains his professional practice in town, but we love being members of “The Country Club”. We invite you to be members as well. The requirements of the organization are that members must possess a love of animals, enjoy breathing fresh air and embrace the rewards of livestock ownership.

Bob and I both had some past work experiences on family farms. We had raised cattle, sheep, pigs, turkeys and chickens and agreed that we would not raise livestock for slaughter. We wanted a soothing lifestyle- a lifestyle which is based on the nurture and care of God’s creatures. Working together as a family, we have made the farm successful as well as FUN! Life at the office is fast paced and we wanted to have our own little paradise of calmness and serenity to wake up to and to come home to.

Alpacas fit the mold and won our hearts. Ok, to be honest, they won MY heart first, stirred Bob’s interest financially, but he too has come to love them as much as I do. They are pleasurable, easy creatures with LOTS of curiosity! They are just hilarious at times the way they sometimes nuzzle you and sneak up on you. It’s a comforting feeling to be surrounded by a herd of them, knowing you are safe. That’s another plus for alpacas. They are kid friendly livestock. They are a great venture for the ENTIRE family. Dad likes the financial rewards, mom fulfills her need to nurture especially after the kids are grown, and the kids and grandkids enjoy cuddly, fuzzy critters with whom they are safe to be with. Anticipating the births of the cria, watching the births take place, the care the family together gives the animals, brings the family unit together with a common interest.

The alpacas have given us so much in such a short period of time. The animals have been held in high regard for thousands of years for the value of their fleece. We hold them in high regard for the emotional as well as financial rewards they bring us.
